Teacher Training Support Project

1. Scholarship Support

Project Period: Phase 1: 2008 – 2019

Trainees from the provinces of Preah Vihear, Stung Treng, Mondulkiri, Ratanakiri, and Koh Kong, which are bordering provinces without teacher training schools, had to undergo two years of training while living in dormitories at the Phnom Penh Secondary Teacher Training College (RTTC) and the Primary Teacher Training College (MTTC). This project was initiated with the aim of improving the quality of primary and secondary education in rural areas through human resource development.

1) Livelihood support and textbook support

To provide a scholarship of $15 per month per student to reduce the burden of part-time job to raise living expenses and concentrate on study.

2) Angkor Wat Training

To support a 4-day/3-night study tour to Siem Reap to learn about the history and heritage of the country at the World Heritage Site of Angkor Wat in order to pass on the pride of the Khmer people to their children as future teachers.

3) Overseas Training

To support selected students to visit overseas educational sites and interact with educators.

2. Support for improving reading literacy skills

Project period: 2021

Through the experience of acquiring literacy skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening through book reading, trainees from teacher training colleges will become teachers who can encourage children to read in the future.

1 Support for the creation of a reading literacy development curriculum

Development of a reading literacy curriculum for teacher trainees through a collaborative pilot with Alumni teachers.

3. Support for club activities

Project period: 2019

Support for extracurricular activities with a focus on traditional arts. After graduation, club members will acquire skills to serve as teachers of arts that are not offered in regular classes at the local schools.
